CARS
Did you see the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car?" Great movie implicating the oil companies and car manufacturers in the plot. But it didn't die! Here's an all elecric neighborhood vehicle that I've been looking into buying (to replace the car we handed down to our older daughter) for schlepping kids to doctors, dentists, sports and dance. Now if we only had affordable and frequent public transit options- that would do the trick!
CRIME
With news that the police commish is on his way out and "news" about the city's daily homicide toll, let's not forget other actions and inactions that should be criminal
- failure of our elected leaders to provide universal health care
- corporate CEO yearly salaries in the millions, some even over $200 million
- sending our young men and women to kill and be killed in Iraq for the lie about Iraq's "weapons of mass destruction"
- allowing guns in our city when there is nothing legal to shoot at instead of treating them for what they are: a public health menace to be isolated and destroyed
CAMPAIGN
My most recent plans were to relax and stay hydrated this summer...and with so many days when temperatures were up in the 90s, what a good plan that has been!
On July 11 (I asked a confidant if the date 7/11 was auspicious- the response was only if I'm going into the convenience store business) I filed an an additional 405 signatures with the County Board of Elections. A big thanks to all the signature gatherers who worked the polls on primary day. You're the best!
