The Dems have decided to give delegates from Michigan and Florida only have a vote at the national convention as a penalty for those states holding their primaries earlier than approved. The result: voters disenfranchised. See CNN timeline report here
The duopoly of Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. has fractures that will only become greater in time - and could, in time lead to what Philadelphia has become - a one party (Democrat) dictatorship.
A fairer sustainable system:
All primaries for president are held on the same day; an earlier vote, with results published give the voters in that state an unfair advantage in influencing the outcome. A later vote, where the vote is very close, give the voters in that state an unfair advantage in breaking the deadlock; either way, these votes are unequal.
Majority rules: the majority doesn't rule as it is now- the electoral college does: abolish it
Instant runoff elections are held where the top vote getter doesn't win a majority of the vote. The current system, while allowing more than two people to run does not comprehend that of three candidates, voters will naturally have 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices. Under the current system, the duopoly tries everything in their power to either 1) suppress a third party candidate from running or even worse 2) support a third party ideologically more similar to their opponent so as to siphon votes.
